A billion of us in a billion deserts look for our oasis. Each as helpless to guide the other as we are ourselves, for we have not come from the same place, and we are not going the same way. Yet maybe we will cross paths in our fields of sand, our feet slipping from underneath us as we walk, pulling us away and down the dunes, through valleys of echoes our shadows stretching out in the evening light. Weary fellahin, dragging onwards until all the time we know ends, so miniscule, and eternal in our experience. It is that essence of fragility we carry with us, the soft tissue paper skin that pokes out between the scales baked hard in the sun.

In Fellahin! I explored the universal experience of feeling out of place within one’s own culture, the differences between us that cause us to share the feeling of alienation from each other. When one is searching for the place they belong, where should they look? Where they have come from, where they are now, or perhaps where they are going. Inspired by the growing racial and political tensions of the working class, and his discomfort within British culture that grows every day I decided to look at feelings of isolation and how they are shared across the spectrum of views.
